Compact oregano is slightly more powerful in taste and aroma than the wild marjoram (Origanum vulgare). But the biggest difference is in the growth habit. Wild marjoram can grow up to 60 cm high while the compact oregano only grows to a maximum height of 20 cm. Compact oregano grows more ground cover and blooms significantly more abundantly.

Compact oregano goes well in the following dishes:

Mediterranean cuisine, gyros, pizza, pasta, egg dishes, potato dishes and rice.

Origanum is composed of the Greek words 'oros' = mountain and 'ganos' = ornament or joy. Loosely translated, it means ornament or joy of the mountain.

Care: oregano likes a sunny and relatively dry place. Sufficient feeding during growth. If the foliage has become unsightly, cut the plant back so that it can sprout fresh.
